One whole day with Bruce, and I was already a goner. His gaze melted me. Everything about him oozed masculinity and confidence, from the way he made decisions to the way he walked.

“What’s your poison?” he asked at the bar of the lounge where we ended up after dinner. We’d asked our server at the restaurant to recommend a bar with a cool vibe, somewhere we can talk but also enjoy the nightlife. He’d sent us to S-Lounge, and I wasn’t disappointed.

“Hm. How about a French Martini?”

“You’re really into the French stuff, aren’t you?” he commented before relaying my order to the bartender.

The bar hummed with activity. The DJ played popular hits and the dance floor was packed. I could have been watching the action, but I couldn’t concentrate with Bruce next to me. Even when I wasn’t looking at him, I could feel his presence in every fiber of my being. It didn’t help that his scent was intoxicating.

I suddenly felt a jolt of boldness, and as someone sidled up next to me at the bar, I shifted closer to Bruce, my arm pressed into his solid torso. God, he felt so warm.

He glanced down at me and smiled briefly before handing me the drink the bartender had mixed.

“I hope it’s good, just the way you like it,” he said.

As a group passed us, he laid a protective hand on my lower back and pulled me closer. I practically melted from his touch. I looked up and there was no question—it wasn’t an accident.

“It’s great, thanks.” What would be great is if he kissed me, I thought, hoping he had no clue what was going through my mind.

There was no longer anyone behind us, but his hand stayed where it was. He tightened his hold ever so slightly, sending chills up and down my spine. I squeezed my legs together as wetness pooled in my core.

This was no longer an ordinary professional relationship. I had a feeling tonight would change everything.
